Tracklisting
These classic Charlie Parker recordings are taken from a Friday night session at the Rockland Palace Dancehall in New York on September 26th 1952. Every recording by Parker is of vital importance, for he was a genuine stream-of-consciousness improviser, the like of which has not been heard since his untimely death On this particular session Bird is backed by Walter Bishop (piano), Mundell Lowe (guitar), Teddy Kotick (bass) and Max Roach on the drums. Featured on nine of tracks is the oboe and strings section with whom Parker was recording and gigging at the time. |
