Some of the finest moments cut for Vee-Jay in the magical years from 1955 to 1964. John Lee Hooker's popularity these days is greater than it has ever been in arecording career spanning half a century This high profile is largely a result of his commercially successful 'comeback' albums forSilvertone and Virgin during the 90's, on which he has collaborated with leading rock superstars. This 20-track compilation comprises highlights from Hooker's classic recordings made for the VeeJay label between 1955 and 1964, when he was at his artistic peak. Hooker has arguably never bettered these Vee Jay versions of his most famous songs, such as'I'm In The Mood', 'Crawling King Snake' and 'Hobo Blues'.This collection also includes the original hit versions of 'Dimples' and 'Boom Boom', plus theoriginal versions of songs Hooker has gone back to and re-recorded in recent years, including 'ILove You Honey', 'It Serves Me Right To Suffer' and 'Don't Look Back'. The last named is the titletrack of a recent Virgin album, on which Hooker duets with Van Morrison. Tracklisting
