Ever since his death in 1995, the legacy and reputation of Charlie Rich has continued to grow in stature. For many fans his Sun recordings represent him at his very best and are the ones he deserves to be best remembered for.

Regarded by Sam Phillips as the greatest talent he ever recorded at Sun Records, Charlie Rich achieved international stardom as a country singer in the seventies. In 1974 alone he scored with two massive country crossover hits, ‘Behind Closed Doors’ and ‘The Most Beautiful Girl’.

This 3-cd collection is the most comprehensive collection of those recordings he made at Sun between 1958 and 1962 for its subsidiary label, Phillips International.

Disc one contains all the masters released at the time by the Phillips International label and includes his 1960 National #22 hit, ‘Lonely Weekends’, together with undubbed versions of four of the songs.

Discs two and three contain tracks which remained largely unreleased until the seventies and eighties when re-issue companies such as Charly and Bear Family issued these genuine nuggets. As well as demos and a couple of alternates, the set includes many sought-after tracks, some of which are here making their cd debuts.

Includes nine previously unreleased titles.
