Curtis Mayfield’s untimely death in December of 1999 ended the extraordinary career of one of the 20th century’s most prolific and influential musical figures.

Truly multi-talented, as well as being a distinctive vocalist, guitarist and producer, Curtis Mayfield was also a writer of great range and vision whose inspirational songs made him a leading figure in America’s civil rights movement.

Soul Legacy is the most comprehensive anthology and overview yet assembled of Mayfield’s prolific recording career from 1968 up to the time of his tragic stage accident in 1990. Compiled from the singles and the two dozen albums which he released on his own Curtom Records, this set features him in both a solo capacity and as a key member of the ground-breaking Impressions group.
