The Shangri-Las epitomised the girl group sound of the Sixties. During this period they notched up three Top Ten and eleven Top Hundred hits, and creating an all time classic with ‘Leader Of The Pack’.

A key element in the group’s success was the groundbreaking studio techniques employed by their producer, the legendary Shadow Morton, who shared Phil Spector’s genius for arrangements and dramatic and imaginative use of sound, employing sound effects to devastating effect.

They recorded almost exclusively for Red Bird Records and this CD – with its 29 tracks running for over seventy-nine minutes -contains virtually every song the girls recorded for the label, making it the most comprehensive collection of their work available.
